Blundeston Primary School CSI Day

At the end of last term, Blundeston Primary School attended the Lowestoft Sixth Form College’s Forensics CSI day. All students from year 5 and year 6 were invited to take part in solving a crime.
A member of staff had been assaulted and five suspects taken into custody. The day began with the pupils putting on their forensics suits and collecting evidence from the crime scene, then collecting statements and fingerprints from the suspects. The evidence then had to be analysed in the labs – blood spatter, fingerprints, hair, clothes fibres, footprints and handwriting were all examined by the pupils, and conclusions made. After lunch the evidence boards were put together, before the DNA evidence came back from the lab and the culprit (Georgia) was revealed. Fortunately the police were on hand to handcuff her and take her away!

The Blundeston pupils were fantastic and really got involved in all of the activities, showing excellent scientific skills. We were also really grateful to all of our year 13 forensics students for taking the roles and running the workstations. It was a fantastic day.
