L6FC Are ‘Up And Active’

We are delighted to award Lowestoft Sixth Form College £60,520 of National Lottery investment towards their ‘Up and Active’ project over the next three years. The project is one of 58 projects that we have funded across the country through ‘Active Colleges’ funding which is aimed at making sport more attractive, more convenient and more accessible to a wider range of college students’. Sport England commented.

To celebrate their success Lowestoft Sixth Form College welcomed many visitors to their Launch Party on Tuesday 30 September, where there was a chance to get involved in lots of fun activities including: Golf, Sumo Wrestling, Rugby, Fitness Testing, Badminton and Football. Visitors included PE students from Benjamin Britten High School, Pakefield High School, Deputy Mayor Councillor Malcolm Cherry, Kathryn James (Suffolk Sport), Rookery Park Golf Club, Lowestoft and Yarmouth Rugby Club and Waterlane Leisure Centre. Many students experienced sports they had never tried before; this is the start of what’s to come over the next 3 years.

Thanks to Sport England’s support, we have welcomed our new Sports Development Officer, Sam Clarke, who will help provide a range of additional activities and new opportunities. The funding will allow our students to promote sport throughout the community, expanding partnerships with local sporting organisations and widen access to a variety of sports and facilities.

Lowestoft Sixth Form College would like to say a big thank you to all that attended for their support, it was a brilliant day had by all.
