Cambridge Visit

Our AS photographers recently visited Cambridge. The city of Cambridge is a university city and the county town of Cambridgeshire. Cambridge is home to the internationally regarded Kettle’s Yard gallery, The Fitzwilliam Museum, and a short distance to the west of Cambridge is Wysing Art Centre, one of the leading research centres for the visual arts in Europe. The city centre itself is a beautiful location to use photography to capture the vibrant atmosphere of this student friendly city, as well as the stunning architecture dominated by Cambridge University’s historic buildings

Alongside collecting imagery for their own personal projects, the AS photographers were given the tasks of capturing imagery for a group photography competition, including categories such as ‘Portrait of a stranger’, ‘Architecture’, ‘Display of affection’, as well as ‘Chris (Photography teacher) look-a-like’. The students have since returned and printed photographs taken from their experience in Cambridge. For some this was their first visit to Cambridge, and their successful exploration of the city captured through the camera lens confirms that at L6FC there are some very talented photographers (as well as some enthusiastic Christmas shoppers!) Thanks to my AS photography students for making my first college mini-bus driving experience a pleasant one (no comments about the choice of some people’s musical tastes).
