About The Course

Do you want to work in IT, computing or web design? Do you enjoy solving technological problems?

IT will provide you with an in-depth understanding of the fundamental principles of information technology systems, and their role in supporting organisations to manage information and deliver products and services. You will also develop the employability skills needed to be successful in an IT career, such as project management, prototyping, collaborative behaviour and problem-solving.

The course includes a number of optional areas of study, such as:

  • Programming
  • Internet of Things (IoT)
  • Cyber security
  • Games design
  • Big data
  • Mobile technology

If you are confident that your future lies in the IT sector, we recommend completing an Extended Diploma, but if you would rather keep your options open, an Extended Certificate or a Diploma in IT also works well alongside A Levels or other vocational subjects, such as Business or Creative Digital Media Production.

What We Add

We have excellent IT facilities, including dedicated IT classrooms that have been equipped to a high specification. You will benefit from opportunities for trips and visits, as well as collaborative work with local universities and employers.

How Can I Standout With Information Technology?

IT is a great stepping stone to higher education, apprenticeships or employment. You could choose to learn more about computer science, business information systems, network engineering, computer games development or cyber security, as part of a degree course or an apprenticeship. You will find yourself equally well-prepared to begin a career in a wide range of roles, from ethical hacking in the banking industry, to website and logistics management for large retail organisations.
