About The Course
Do you have a keen interest in dance, musical theatre, improvisation, choreography, backstage and technical work?
CTEC Performing Arts can be studied as a:
- Single pathway (dance and drama – 50/50)
- Double pathway (dance and drama – 50/50)
- Triple pathway (dance, drama and musical theatre – evenly split)
You will study a range of dance techniques, performance skills, choreography and the theoretical aspects of the art form. You will also study a range of acting techniques, from Stanislavski and Brecht, to Demidov, as well as classical and contemporary theatre practices. You will have the opportunity to become fully involved in the process of performance, from directing and writing, to critical evaluation.
You will collate a variety of project-based evidence over the course to enable you to complete your CTEC qualification. The evidence you will produce will vary from performances in acting, dance and music, to script writing, presentations, group discussions, essays/reports and much more.
What We Add
You will learn in our fully-equipped dance and drama studios. A TV studio, large performance space and soundproof music practice booths are also available to you for both rehearsal and performance. You will also be able to take part in a range of performance workshops with visiting industry specialists, as part of our Plus More programme. We also host 10 shows a year across our music and performing arts courses, where you will have the chance to showcase your talents.
How Can I Standout With Performing Arts?
This course will allow you to progress onto a specialist performing arts college, as well as preparing you for a wide range of arts-related degree courses, such as: dance, choreography, drama, education, marketing, media, theatre studies and more.
- Must meet overall entry criteria for vocational Level 3 study
- Auditions will take place in June or July; you will receive details once you have attended your initial college interview
