About the course…
This course is ideal if you are looking to start a career in health or science.
You will gain a general understanding of health and science through a range of core topics, including principles of good scientific and clinical practice, working within the health and science sector,
managing information and data and health, safety and environmental regulations.
In addition, you will explore topics specific to healthcare science, such as understanding the healthcare science sector, infection prevention and control, good scientific practice,
providing person-centred care and further knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, diseases and disorders, genomics and medical physics.

- You will have the opportunity to focus on a specialism alongside the core content. These include optical care services, pharmacy services, prosthetic and orthotic technical services and
assisting with healthcare science.
- The course includes a minimum of nine-weeks work experience.
- This course is equivalent to three A Levels.
Where Healthcare Science can take you…
This course will prepare you for a range of medical science pathways, such as medical physicist, dietician, orthoptist, pharmacist, sonographer, pharmacologist, audiologist, laboratory
technician, radiographer, biochemist and clinical scientist.
You could also progress to a degree or higher level apprenticeship in a related subject.
