This course is delivered by East Coast College at our Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth campuses.

What is a T Level?

T Levels are a brand new two year qualification designed to give you a head start towards the career you want. They have been designed for 16 to 19-year-olds and offer a mixture of classroom learning and work placement. They follow GCSEs, gain you UCAS points and are equivalent to three A Levels.

This T Level has been developed with employers and businesses to prepare you to step straight into your chosen career, an apprenticeship or university.

About the course…

The core element of a T Level in Healthcare Science will boost your knowledge in a range of topics such as the principles of good scientific and clinical practice; as well as standard operating procedures, management of equipment and work areas, the importance of quality standards, and health and safety. Healthcare Science is critical, not only for the delivery of current healthcare, but also to develop innovative tests and treatments for the future.

You will then choose a specialism designed to support your interests, so you can get deeper into your chosen subject and build up the skills you need for your future job. For example, Assisting Healthcare will be one of the specialisms available.

Then you will be able to put everything you learn into practice with a substantial industry placement for a minimum of 315 hours. This will give you an amazing opportunity to work with an employer while you study in a laboratory, hospital or healthcare setting and gain invaluable experience as well as key skills that employers are looking for.

Where Healthcare Science can take you…

Following a T Level, you could progress straight into a skilled profession or continue your studies with a degree or higher apprenticeship. Career options might include becoming a Clinical Analyst or a Healthcare Science Associate. Our careers advisors can help you choose the right path.
