Our very talented BTEC Music students hosted two fantastic nights of live music on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th February 2019.

As part of their BTEC course, the students were tasked with organising, promoting, performing and hosting the events entirely by themselves. The gigs were organised by two different groups, with Wednesday night’s ‘West End on the East Coast’  spectacular featuring musical theatre hits, and Thursday’s ‘Love and Loneliness’ gig featuring a host of love songs, fitting the rather appropriate Valentine’s Day theme!

The students worked tirelessly to organise, promote and perform in their gigs; the hard work most definitely paid off! The gigs were met with a fantastic turnout, with the crowds enjoying classic hits such as The Monkees’ ‘I’m a believer’ and The Buzzcocks ‘Ever Fallen in Love’. Several students were also joined on stage by Music teacher Guy Nottage, who performed fantastic renditions of The Beatles’ hits.

At the end of each night, Guy praised the students to the audience, commenting  “You did yourselves, me and the college proud.  Your amazing work will be reflected in the grades for your Unit 24”.

Well done to all the exceptional students (and staff!) who were involved in the events – a great time was had by all!
