Studying Photography will encourage you to expand your knowledge and understanding of photographic techniques, the different
disciplines you could work within and the history of photography, while giving you the opportunity to explore personal ideas through maintaining a portfolio to record your learning.
You will explore and produce practical work across multiple photographic and arts-based disciplines, including light drawing, digital image manipulation, compositing, cyanotypes, collage and studio lighting. You will cover a range of areas, from editorial photography to commercial photography and portraiture.

At least five GCSEs at grades 9-4 in one sitting. An average GCSE score of 5 or more is preferred.
GCSE English and Maths at grade 4. Plus, a successful portfolio of work.
Assessment consists of a Personal Investigation (60%) and an Externally Set Task (40%). You will complete a practical portfolio, a written related study of 1,000 to 3,000 words, and a 15-hour supervised practical examination based on an externally released theme.

This course is primarily practical image-making supported by critical analysis and written research. Approximately 85% practical / 15% theory and written research. Assessment weighting is 60% Personal Investigation and 40% Externally Set Task.
Photography is an excellent course if you want to progress to a degree in subjects such as photography, media production,
fine art, graphic design, illustration, 3D design, fashion, editorial, marketing and PR.
We live in a world where we are captivated by visual content and rely on images as a form of communication and evidence. Many people go on to use photography within their chosen field of work, ranging from forensic photography and commercial studio photography to building their own business in specialist areas such as portraiture.
Other career routes may include marketing, branding, graphic design, compositing and teaching.
You will be taught in our purpose-built photography studio and Apple Mac suite. You will have access to your own DSLR camera, speciality lenses and the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite throughout the course of your 2 years of study. Taught by industry expert teachers.
