This course is delivered by East Coast College at our Lowestoft campus.
What is a T Level?
T Levels are a brand new two year qualification designed to give you a head start towards the career you want. They have been designed for 16 to 19-year-olds and offer a mixture of classroom learning and work placement. They follow GCSEs, gain you UCAS points and are equivalent to three A Levels.
This T Level has been developed with employers and businesses to prepare you to step straight into your chosen career, an apprenticeship or university.
About the course…
The core element of a T Level in Education and Childcare will boost your knowledge in a range of topics such as child development, safeguarding and special educational needs; as well as your
understanding of the role of families and support agencies. You will also dive into the specifics of social interaction, behaviour, and how language is acquired, as well as build your skills in becoming a reflective practitioner.
You will then choose a specialism designed to support your interests, so you can get deeper into your chosen subject and build up the skills you need for your future job. You can choose from specialist modules in either Early Years Education, Assisting Teaching or Supporting and Mentoring Students in further and higher education.
Then you will be able to put everything you learn into practice with a substantial industry placement for 759 hours. This will give you an amazing opportunity to work with an employer while you study, such as a school or nursery, and gain invaluable experience as well as key skills that employers are looking for.
Where Education and Childcare can take you…
Following this T Level, you could progress straight into a skilled profession or continue your studies with a degree or higher apprenticeship. Career opportunities might include becoming a Teaching Assistant, Nursery Nurse or Early Years Officer. Our careers advisors can help you choose your right path.
