We are extremely proud of BTEC IT student, Joshua Belcher, who jetted off to South Korea last month to represent the UK at the Global IT Challenge.

Earlier this year, Joshua took part in the Shaw Trust’s UK IT Challenge, held at BT’s Adastral Park in Ipswich. The three-day competition saw teams of young people travel from across the UK to take part in a variety of IT challenges to test ability, creativity and skill using different computer programmes.

Having beaten off competition from 49 other young people, Joshua was announced as the overall winner of the challenge. As well as winning a Google Pixelbook, Joshua was awarded the exciting opportunity to travel to Busan in South Korea to participate in the 2019 Global IT Challenge.

The four-day international competition, which took place at the end of November, saw national teams compete in a series of IT challenges, with Joshua competing alongside 300 young people from across the globe.

Joshua won a gold medal for the ‘Solo PowerPoint Challenge’ and a bronze medal for the ‘Team Video Challenge’.

Joshua said “It was a fun experience and eye-opening to see new places in the world. I’d definitely do it again!”

Congratulations Joshua – we are very proud!
